Out of that, 260.7 million pounds are consumer fireworks (the kind you buy for backyard fun), and 24.6 million pounds are used for those big, professional displays we all love.

Buildings equipped with lightning rods are safer during a strike. These rods provide a designated path for the lightning to travel, safely directing the electricity into the ground and minimizing damage.

The torch also sways 5 inches side to side to withstand the wind.
