Smithsonian Hometown Teams Exhibit Grand Opening Events
Sat. June 10th, 2017 | 11:00am - 5:00pm EDT
Basketball, soccer, baseball, football, cycling… People in America are often drawn to compete in these sports and many more. Others will gather on the sidelines instead to cheer for their favorite teams or athletes. Nowhere do people more intimately connect to sports than in their hometown.
Travis Freeman, subject of the football film 23 Blast, will kick off the opening of the exhibit with an inspirational presentation that starts at 11:00 am in the auditorium. The ribbon cutting will take place just before noon followed by music, fun, and food from 1:00 to 2:00 pm or while supplies last. The exhibit will open to the public at 1:00 pm.
No registration necessary.
***The exhibit will be open to the public from 1:00 pm Saturday, June 10th through July 8th.***
“Hometown Teams” is part of Museum on Main Street, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and the Kentucky Humanities Council.
All events offered by the Laurel County Public Library are free to attend unless otherwise noted in the description above.
The library makes every reasonable effort to provide equal access to all patrons. Please call us at least three days in advance to request accommodations.
