Thu. May 25th, 2017 | 6:00pm - 7:00pm EDT

Do you think pirates are bloodthirsty scoundrels? Or are they romantic dashing heroes?

Professor Elizabeth Kitts is returning to discuss the role of piracy in the formation of the Americas. Discover how race and gender shaped piracy, how a crew was structured, and the realities of violence on the high seas. Come to see if pirates are accurately portrayed in the movies.

Participants must be 16 years of age or older.

Registration is required and will open on Friday, April 21st.

All events offered by the Laurel County Public Library are free to attend unless otherwise noted in the description above.
