Our Veterans, Their Stories: Honoring Our Fallen Heroes

For the past two years we’ve published an oral history project that’s featured local area veterans. Veterans have sat down with us, on camera, to share photographs and memories about their time in the military. We’ve been so grateful to our participants, that they trusted us to share their experiences with the world.

For this year’s project, we want to do something a little different.

We want to give a voice to those who are no longer with us and share their stories. In order to do this, we’re opening up submissions to the public. We plan to exhibit many of the photos that will be shared with us, along with quotes given to us by the families about their veteran. All photos and stories will be added to our digital archive. There will also be a slideshow of their photographs with quotes from the submissions that will be shown at the library and online.

To participate we’ll need the following:

  • A completed submission form
  • Two photographs
  • A typed letter that shares what you’d like us to know about that person.

Deadline for submission will be September 30, 2019. Simply drop off your materials along with a completed entry form.

View our entry form to see the complete guidelines on how you can participate in this project.
